ACTRESS & ACTOR-MUSICIAN

Helena Gullan trained in Acting at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, Los Angeles, where she was awarded an Acting Scholarship. She now has bases both in LA and London.

 

During her time at the institute, where she trained in Method Acting, she was one of a handful of students selected to be filmed and interviewed by SKY for a news release on Sky Arts TV. She also played various principal roles in the school's productions (including Maureen in 'RENT' and Vivienne in 'Legally Blonde'). 

 

She graduated from the institute in June 2013, following which she returned to the UK to perform in various theatre productions (see C.V.), before being cast in the multi-award winning musical, 'ONCE', where she made her West End Debut. She understudied two roles in the London cast; 1st Cover, Reza and 2nd Cover, Ex-Girlfriend. Following the closing of the West End run, she was invited to go on tour to Korea with the show, as the principal cover for both roles.

 

She has followed on with principal roles in many UK National Tours, some of which include; Ireland's Call the Musical, Chaplin - The Charlie Chaplin Story, Emerald Storm, Walk Right Back - The Story of the Everly Brothers, and she is currently on the World Tour of Nashville Live (2018-19).

Other roles include performing as So Shi and Spirit of the Ring in Aladdin at the Grimsby Auditorium and being the principal stand by for all roles in Parlon Theatre Company's Spanish tour of The Canterbury Tales.

She graduated with a BA Honours in Drama and Music from Royal Holloway, University of London, where she received the highest mark in her year group for a devised Physical Theatre piece. Before attending university, she spent five months performing in the National Theatre's Production of 'Coram Boy' (Olivier Theatre), after being cast in the onstage chorus. 

 

Helena is a multi-instrumentalist. She is diploma level on Violin and has achieved Grade 8 distinctions in both the Piano and Singing. She also plays Accordion, Saxophone, Guitar and Mandolin.
